Solve : Can't install this device?

Answer»

I have a firewire audio INTERFACE that I'm trying to install on my laptop. I insert the driver disk, it walks me through the pre-installation, then asks me to turn on the device. When I turn on the unit, Almighty windows takes over and the add hardware wizard fires up and automatically decides this is a Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller and installs the thing as a 1394 NETWORK ADAPTER.

Now, I've INSTALLED this thing before on the same PC using the same drivers and same OS. I've updated all of my PC's drivers and downloaded the latest interface drivers as WELL and get the same result.

Is my interface malfunctioning or is Windows going senile??? Either way, it's rather IRRITATING. Anyone else ever had this issue with a firewire device?

BTW - The vendor of the interface won't even talk to me or reply to support TICKETS.
