Answer» Whenever I try to play a .mov file, my PC locks up. I've tried Quicktime, Real, Media Player Classic, and WMP with a codec to play .mov files. No matter what, it locks up. Thinking that it was the file's size that caused it, I found one that was 4 MB. It locked up. No matter how small, it just locks up. All other media TYPES play normally.
WinXP SP2.
Corrections: Only music plays normally. ANYTHING with video causes... not a lock-up, but 100% CPU usage. Task manager says only 3-4 CPU cycles, and only about 9k memory USED, but it gets slow and my computer monitor flickers to black and back. It keeps doing this until I close the program (a feat) or reset.
I just recently scanned for VIRUSES with AVG, A2, SPYBOT, and Ad-Aware.Video drivers updated?
Alan <>< Latest version.Dilbert Try to Play a Different files.. and see if that loks up the computer.,...mov, .avi. .mpeg... all of it. NOT, however, mp3, wav, or wma.OK, I just visited a page that had an embedded movie file on the page. Big mistake!
Delay time between a click and a response was an outrageous 15 seconds.
EDIT: Counting all the flickers, it took me a full 3 minutes to get from that screen to the point where FF was closed.Fixed it myself. Installed older video driver.
