Answer» I have a Compaq Presario 7470. It had Windows 98SE when I got it used. I had it UPGRADED to XP ( He did it without removing 98) It was starting to SHUT off and restart occasionally so I thought I'd try to re-install XP. I watched it go through the process and it seemed to be installing OK, but when it finished it went to a blank screen with the message 'remove disk'. I've tried over and over to get it to boot but it just has the same message every time I changed the FLOPPY drive, thinking it malfunctioned, but with the same results. I'm lost. It has 256 ram, 666 processor, Western ELECTRIC hard drive (18 G or so) I have no clue what could be WRONG! Willing to try anything! Pleeeez help me? :Þso it just won't boot from the cd rom now? maybe ram issue i got many problems trying to install windows when i had bad ram not knowing.Why did you change the floppy drive? XP doesn't come on floppies. Do you have a XP installation CD?
