Solve : Can't remove a program in add/remove programs?

Answer»

Hey everyone, I am on Windows XP. I recently had to do a system restore, and a PROGRAM I had removed (Verizon Internet Security Suite) came back onto the computer. Now I can't remove it in the control panel add/remove program function. I tried to MANUALLY delete it, but no go. I tried to use the TWEAK ui program, as suggested on this website, but I don't think it works for XP (can't find the add/remove tab). I tried to manually uninstall it through regedit, but it does not show up under the uninstall folder. I am out of ideas, and WONDERING if anyone has any suggestions. Thank you for your help.
MikeSO through internet searching, I came across a program - AddRemove 4Good, with a free trial. It did remove the program form the add/remove list, but the files are stil on y computer. I have deleted manually all the files I was allowed, but there are still 25 files left. Any way to get rid of these? Thanks for the time, and the help.
MikeAmother update...was able to delete all files except one: McciTrayApp. Says:
"Cannot delete McciTrayApp: Access is denied. Make sure that the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use"
Any suggestions? Thanks again.
     MikeDownload and run unlocker.

Using Unlocker
--------------

How often have you tried to delete or rename a file or folder and got
"Cannot delete xxx: It is being used by another person or program." ?

Unlocker is a tool which will help you removing this scandaleous Windows
bug.

Simply right click the file or folder and select Unlocker. If the file
or folder is locked then a window will appear with a list of processes
locking the file or folder. Select the locks and click Unlock and you
are done.

It is recommended to Unlock wisely and to close open processes locking
files or folder if any, but if only Explorer.exe is the CULPRIT, do not
hesitate ! Awesome! Thanks a lot...it worked like a charm.
MikeGood it usually does.I only found it about 10 days ago.
