Solve : Can't set printer as default in XP? |
|
Answer» I have a HP DV6000 laptop which has a printer attached VIA USB. Used to print OK, but now will not. I know how to SET it as default in Control Panel, I go through the motions, but it doesn't work. It wont set as default. Tried deleting and re-installing, but it still wont work, it still wont set as default. I have no other printer. What to do? Tried another USB port / another cable / new drivers / any error messages/ when did it stop working, after installing anything ? If you have adapter, plug it to PS/2 port. ? ?Quote from: patio on May 27, 2008, 05:03:55 PM Quote from: cryhelp on May 27, 2008, 08:02:16 AMIf you have adapter, plug it to PS/2 port. I have had two hp printers that nearly drove me crazy trying to set as default. Changing from the USB to PS/2 connection solved the problem. Thought that might work for this Did your printer come with a CD?Quote from: cryhelp on May 27, 2008, 06:04:02 PM I have had two hp printers that nearly drove me crazy trying to set as default. Have you ever known of anyone else doing this? I connected my printer to a PS/2 port once... Afterwards, whenever I printed someting only the words "keyboard" and "mouse" would appear on the paper. Must've been a "glitch". At this point in time I really don't care, other than the fact you just called me a liar. Guess ACCORDING to you, I have performed several miracles. Seems as if because of my post, everyone has left trying to help the original poster with his problem. To avoid issues such as this I will not post in this forum again.Click on Start, Select.... Printers & Faxes. Double Click on the Printer you want to be the default. Another smaller window will appear. Click on.... Printer. ( top left ) Then click on ....Set as default. Your problem should be solved. Regards. Fred. |
