Solve : Can't start windows XP? |
|
Answer» I recently ran a system restore, part of the process involved the computer restarting. When the computer rebooted however I got a BLACK screen with options: Start in Safe Mode, Run last known good configuration, or start windows normally, non of which get windows to actually run. I also TRIED using the f8 trick right after choosing to start windows normally and none of the options on that page worked either. Ive done some searching and it was recommended that I use a Windows XP (my OS) cd in order to run a restore or something. Unfortunately I don't have one, but I do have another CPU with XP on it. Hie,Your post doesn't even make sense. Borrow an XP CD of the same version you have and do a repair install. Here is a link to an article describing how to perform a repair install.Quote from: yomikey32 on January 14, 2010, 09:02:35 PM When the computer rebooted however I got a black screen with options: Start in Safe Mode, Run last known good configuration, or start windows normally, non of which get windows to actually run. Generally, a startup issue either "hangs" or displays a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with a "STOP Code". The stop code with its parameters and sometimes a short error string or file name is the explanation as to why it is unable to start. Sometimes the BSOD is not seen because the system automatically restarts before you have an opportunity to see and/or read it. From the Windows Advanced Options menu accessed via during system startup, you should select the "Disable automatic restart on system failure" option in order to stop on the BSOD display. |
