Solve : cannot access files - error message, "No Access"? |
|
Answer» My wife's old desktop computer DIED. (I think it is the motherboard.) It ran on Windows XP. I took the hard drive from my wife's computer and put it in a second computer as the d drive, hoping to copy the FILES to an external drive. The second computer had a ribbon connector that fit the old drive perfectly. I can copy the files located in the Shared Documents FOLDER to the external drive, but not any of the files in the user accounts. When I select any of the folders representing the 3 user accounts, the MESSAGE "No Access" appears. When I initially set up my wife's computer, the various user accounts had no password to log-in with the EXCEPTION of the administrator account which I also do not have access to. Does anyone have any ideas how I can gain access the the old drive (now a d drive) either using windows or dos commands? Thanks!Take Ownership...Thanks for the article. When I get home I'll give it a try.Anytime... |
