Solve : cannot access my C: drive?

Answer»

Ok, i downloaded service pack 2 intalled it and everything went smootly. INSTALLED anitvirus and wiped all possible bugs and viruses. i managed to run disk fragmenter. no problem. reseted my computer and now i cannot go inside my C: drive or partitioned D: !!! I get a error box saying "C:/ Access Denied"1. More information WOULD be helpful. See here

Please include whether this is WINDOWS XP Home Edition or Professional, and the name and version number of the third party antivirus (or security software) that you installed.

2. Have you tried BOOTING to Safe Mode (to see if you have access from there)?

Tap F8 key about once per second (or quicker) as the system powers up (or possibly restarts). Windows Advanced Options menu should appear. Use up/down arrows to select regular "Safe Mode" and hit Enter key. Try Diskpart.Or Error CHECKING Consolehi, still no access even in safe mode

sorry, im using windows xp and the anivirus i installed was AVg FREE edition vrsion 8.0

It was only until i defragmented my c: drive i encountered this problemTry this..

In Step 1 drive C: is the folder which you want to access so open My Computer and Right click on C: drive>properties and follow the instructions in the kb article.

Good luckhi, followed the article as advised and i still cannot access my c drive or partitiond drive.

I would uninstall AVG as a test, there's been a few problems with version 8.

I second that. In light of recent events, I would steer clear of AVG 8.
