Answer» I've upgraded my Sony Vaio SZ laptop to vista doing a clean installation. I cannot adjust the brightness though, NEITHER can I use my FN KEY to adjust the volume or brightness.
I can adjust the volume through the tray icon but cannot find anywhere to adjust the brightness.
Can anyone please help?
Laptop Spec: Sony Vaio SZ1XP/C Intel CORE Duo 2 GB RAM NVIDIA GeFOrce Go7400Since you did a clean install all your drivers will need to be re-installed...you will need Vista drivers. MBoard chipset drivers go FIRST.Sorry forgot to MENTION I have installed all drivers and utilities already. I got them from the Sony website. In Device Manager there are two unknown devices alsoThat would mean you didn't install all of the drivers. Are you sure you installed the chipset? Did you even check to make sure your computer and all of its devices are compatible with Vista? After doing some research, I have found that the Sony Vaio SZ1XP/C is only available with Windows XP, not Windows Vista.
That may be a problem....I've found the solution. Vista is available for my model as you can get the update drivers for vista on the sony website, which I downloaded and installed in the specific order mentioned but I had to download a file from the microsoft site that would activate the hotkeys http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/7816_2_a5db7ce11f55024ce049b23a6bf61f9c34248ff0.cab
Thanks for the replies anyhow.
