Solve : Cannot continue hardware update wizard?

Answer»

Our company has new properitary vehicle diagnostic software that we lease from another OEM. The new software is an UPDATE from the old software. When installing the new USB driver, on some computers, we get the dreaded "Cannot continue hardware update wizard". We tried to manually install the software by pointing to the drivers but RECEIVE the same error. I confirmed the cable and driver are good. We uninstalled and reinstalled the software. On working laptops, the driver installs right away. This problem has occured on 3 laptops. The company we lease the software from is of no help.

Is this a registry problem? Corrupted file?Has this company given you system requirements specifications? If you are meeting them, should they not be offering proper TECHNICAL SUPPORT? What are the requirements for this software? (E.g. do the drivers only work in XP or 32-bit or what-have-you?)The requirements are met.

I found out the laptop owner didn't uninstall the old software before installing the new software. Who knows what kind of conflicts were created. I cleaned out the registry and drivers the best I could, and uninstalled the software with no luck.

There were 3 registry items relating to the driver manufacturer ID that I couldn't delete. I'm guessing that's the problem. I'll look into a registry cleaner.Quote

Most likely it will not solved your issue but good luck...
