Thank you for responding.
The OS is Winxp. AV antivirus software is installed. ItThe XP was installed about a month ago; the problem has been there ever since. Earlier, I was operating on Win98 and would inevitably face the "blue screen" after a few minutes. Now, after INSTALLING XP, normal work on the computer is ok. The problem surfaces ONLY when I go to the internet. I have tried IE, Opera and Firefox, but that has not made any difference. Other than normal software like MS Office, Nero Express, Bitware, I have not installed any new software. "I was operating on Win98 and would inevitably face the "blue screen" after a few minutes". Did you do a clean install of XP or did you do an upgrade?
The mistake you made is not resolving the problem you had before you installed XP. Now you've compounded the issue by installing another OS.
Alan <>< Thank you for your comments. In fact, when Win98 was troubling me, I had the entire hard disk formatted, loaded XP and also Win98 as a STANDBY. Now, when I work using Win98, the problem does not surface; however, in XP, I cannot use the internet for more than a minute or two.
Incidentally, In Win98, I am unable to use IE but only some other browser like Opera. Is your ISP dialup ,or DSL ETC...?It is a broadbank cable connection.Have you talked to your service provider ?
