Answer» Hi Guys Wonder if someone could help?
I have a PC which of late has been frustrating me with its slowness on booting and being able to achieve more than one task comfortably. For example itunes can take ages to start and if I extracting something from winzip Im not able to open firefox immediately.
I will admit I DONT have an upto DATE PC and the motherboard is getting on but SURELY it should be capable to do more than one simple task at a time ? I have scanned for viruses and malware I have checked for defragmentation
The pc's set up is as follows
Intel LGA775 motherboard 2x 4096 MB (2 x 2048 DDR2-SDRAM ) memory NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS video card Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2666 MHz processor Using Windows 7 32bit
Like I said not modern but surely its man enough to be a bit quicker ?
A really simple method for making your COMPUTER run quicker is to install and run Tune-up Utilities. It has a tool called one click maintenance, which works wonders. I am not sure if the moderators would agree with me fully, however, I use it with my business, and have many satisfied customers. No I do not make the software, however it has been around since windows 98.As far as I am concerned NONE of those utilities do anything to effect performance. I've tested them all - including TuneUp Utilities.
You probably have some issues with your system that we can help with. First, you say this has happened over time.
1) What is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?
2) What did you use to SCAN for malware?
3) What do you have running at boot? Have you tried a clean boot?
4) When was the last time you cleaned out the inside of the computer?
