|
Answer» Have Word 2003, use outlook as email program., and cannot open an ATTACHMENT sent to me by a mac user. File attachment extension is listed as dat . I have tried saving the file and changing extension to doc but still won't open. This same attachment was sent to several othe pc users that were able to open file in various versions of Word. Any suggestions would be appreciated Quote from: dunlawton on July 26, 2008, 01:05:19 PM This same attachment was sent to several othe pc users that were able to open file in various versions of Word. Any suggestions would be appreciated I'm surprised that Word would open the .dat file. If correct, have one of them save it as a .doc and send it to you. I can't recommend a program to open the file on your own, ->google. Perhaps others have a recommendation. Good luck.Ask the sender what program it was created in... Windows programs will not NORMALLY view MAC files and vicsa versa without a 3rd party program.I have seen this before. It has to do how the email security works. If you know the sender and trust the email save the file to your computer and change the .dat to .html. The email will open and look fine with IE. Ummm......dunlawton reported Spoiler's post with this comment: Quote thanks for the suggestion unfortuantly I tried it and it's still unreadable as far as the content portion--gives name and says it's an apple file etc same as before but content is unreadable Hey Dunlawton, just reply to this topic.
