Solve : Cannot Run cmd or cmd.exe?

Answer»

Any other way to stop Disk check on start up..... My Sata is becoming a pain in the *censored* everytime I reboot....

I cant enter the switch to turn off disk check because my cmd just crashes...

Even with Firewire and AV DISABLED....

Anyone any other ideas.... Ie Regedit ! (It runs OK etc) from RUN....

Exactly what happens when you try to run it? Does it just immediately close? Have you tried running it by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt?Have you tried from Safe Mode?soy... Just an instant close, I briefly see a dos box then gone....

hope... Will try now....

Will post back ASAP....

Yep M8 both WAYS.... I have tried running the chkntfs /x E: from the run box....

About to reboot and see what happens...

PS Exact same in safemode Hmm strange. It's a long shot but what if you run "command" from the run line instead of "cmd"?Does the exact same thing.... Although running the chkdisk command line from the run box has solved my problem for now

... "chkdisk". You mean CHKDSK. Yeah, I see it can be run from the run box, but the PANEL immediately closes when the command has executed; doesn't give you a chance to see the results. At least, that's what happens on my system. Is yours working differently?Yes mine closed straight away also, you cannot pause it either to see the result....

But the error checking has stopped on boot up now.... So it must have been applied...

maxmixDLoad and run the diagnostics from the drive manuf. website.
They are more extensive than chkdsk and may let you know the true health of that drive...I will on Monday if I can.... Even although I have stopped the old scandisk kicking in.... When windows starts after logon etc ist box is telling me the drive is on the way out....

All backed up anyway.... Anyway to disable that popup error ?
