Answer» i have laptop Dell N5110 core i3 (Window 7) 2 days back it just shutdown while i was using it.when i started it again it give a black screen with option
restart system insert window cd Click repair
i inserted window cd and reached option of repair but even after 8 hours the screen was same bluish showing "attempting repair it might take over an hour" i also tried to install new window but the system held on screen showing "STARTING setup" for hours.
i am in a remote oil field and no repair shop are available. Please give some suggestion to resolve my laptop problem. Was it dropped ? ?...if so remove and re-seat both the HDD and DVD-ROM with all power removed and battery out.
What exactly does it say on this WinCD and is it the one that shipped with the PC ? ?
P.S. Any repair / re-install of an OS on a laptop should be done with A/C power...never do it on battery power unless you want HEADACHES...If what Patio says does not resolve the issue, your are stuck. You have done as much as you can in a remote area.
Have somebody ship you a replacement laptop. And get a external USB device to read data off your old HARD drive. That requires you to remove the hard drive from the laptop.
Here is one kind of adapter from Amazon. Other vendors also have things like that.
The pix above shows it on a desktop drive. Also works on laptop drives.
That is the best I can say. It was not dropped.Just shutted down while i was using it. On wincd if i click install window it helds on screen for hours saying"Starting setup" On wincd if i click repair it helds on screen for hours saying "Attempting repair"Please answer the questions above...they mean something.(1)it was not dropped (2)On wincd it just held on attached screens for several hours while repairing and new OS installation (3) it was not shipped with PC (4) I had tried OS installation with AC Adapter PLUGGED in Laptop
What else you want to ask?
