Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have a lap top that I currently cant use as when I go to turn it on it gets to the first windows logo (and it looks like its going to open up windows) then a blue screen pops up for less then a second and then the computer restarts. This just keeps happening over and over again.

It dosnt allow me to start windows up their fore I cant run any virus checks.

Dose anyone know anything I can do to fix this.

Thanks .How about a detail or two, like computer make and model, what happened prior to this, how OLD, is it still under warranty, ETC.?  

Its a Compaq Presario 2500. I had been downlaoding music that day and when I went to turn the computer off it reset itself and would only get to the windows load up page then a blue screen would pop up for not even a second then it would reset again. This process would just keep happening. Now every time that I turn my computer on the same thing happens and it can not be used.

It was bought almost 2 years ago and I think the warrenty may be out.try starting it in safe MODE then do virus checks.yea I tried that, that dosent work. It still COMES up to the windows page, then a blue screen for less then a second then restarts.
pop in ur windows cd and attempt to repair it.I would suggest burning a Linux Live CD to see if this is hardware or software related. With a LAPTOP there is little you can do to repair, but it would let us know where the problems are.

Do you have a real, shiny Windows CD to reinstall or a Compaq recovery CD? When did this problem start? Was it just like this or was it gradual?
