Solve : CCleaner Registry Cleaner question? |
|
Answer» When i was using CCleaner to check for errors in my registry, it took forever to get to the bottom of the list... I'm wondering what to do with the errors/unused files/etc that ccleaner finds. Should I fix them or keep them there? I'm keeping them there for now but i want to know what to do... Using registry cleaners is not recommended at all.Yes, but, as stated over and over in numerous computing forums, CCleaner is probably the safest registry cleaner available. And, since the OP mentions a very long list of items found, I know darn well I'd get rid of it all and I'd feel quite confident about using CCleaner for this. I can only repeat. Cleaning registry, doesn't bring any VISIBLE gains, but may be and it is dangerous.I have to disagree; in cases where a great many unneeded registry entries are found - and again, by a known-to-be safe, non-agressive cleaner - I believe some noticeable improvement may occur. At least, that's been my experience.Let me re-phrase. Any experienced computer user can play with registry 24/7. Any not too savvy computer user, should leave registry alone. IMHO.It's confusing me, half say use it, half say don't. I am going to set up a poll and the option with more votes I will use EDIT: I backed up my registry and cleaned it :/ I HOPE nothing BAD happens.... Edit: I still want to make sure this is safe so i made a system restore point to like yesterday so if something bad happens i can restore... So please vote in the poll so I can be really sure Thanks for your time anyone who helped so far...There are no "safe" registry cleaners. If you want to use one then you should look at each entry and if you don't know what it is, don't delete it. Since most users do now know what the entries are............ well, I think you know where I'm headed. Again, there are NO safe registry cleaners. And why would I vote in a poll? Quote And why would I vote in a poll?Because you're over 18. While I agree that registry cleaners are usually trouble, CCleaner would be my first choice if I had to use one.Thank you GUYS for your help I don't really need more replies... Thanks to all that helped and that would have helped if i waited a few more days... Well... can someone lock this thread |
