Solve : Certain windows updates will not let Vista connect to the internet? |
|
Answer» I'm running Vista Home Premium on a Sony Vaio and after I download updates I can no longer connect to the internet (through an ethernet CABLE or wireless). I had uninstalled a security update (I don't remember the specific one though) and it let me connect but the internet was really slow. I reformatted the hard drive and before I installed any updates I could connect to the internet without a problem. After installing updates I couldn't connect until I deleted Update for .NET Framework 3.0 (KB942371) and I've had no problems since. I just thought that I'd figure out which one was the cause of the problem by uninstalling them one by one and reinstall the updates as I ruled them out as being a problem. This happened to be the first one I tried (KB942371) after reformatting the HD but I have 30 more updates to download and install. No I'm not running Zone Alarm. As far as antivirus etc., I have and Webroot with Antivirus. Norton Firewall is on, windows firewall is disabled. Suggest that you disable one of the AV's. |
