Solve : Changing the User File name? |
|
Answer» I just installed windows 7 and when i typed in my username i misspelled it i changed the name to show up as what i want but how do i change the user file name (ex. C:\User\User File Name\) its getting on my nerves but there is no rename button. How do I change it?You cannot change the actual file name. The best you can do is create a new username and copy everything from the original folder to the new one.Would I be able to delete the other one and claim to my new profile?I believe you should be able to, yes. You'll have to delete the username in Control Panel first.Just so i dont mess this up I have to create the profile copy my files over then delete the other one right?Yep. Before deleting ANYTHING HOWEVER, make sure everything is working to your satisfaction with the new profile.WARNING TO ANYONE THAT DOES THIS!! IT MESSES UP YOUR PROGRAMS YOU MUST UN INSTALL AND REINSTALL EVERYTHING!!! still the PICTURES dont show up i just get that "file extension" picture for everythingYou don't need to uninstall anything. If anything, just reinstall the programs to the same location. And "pictures" should not be effected. But as I said, as long as you didn't delete anything there's no problem.the programs didnt work i couldnt open anything that want installed to the new profile so i jsut did it that way insteasdd of worrying with changing the PROGRAM locations and stuffhttp://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/122011-user-account-name.htmlYou did create a new user account with the new username, didn't you?ya i created a new user and username but when i went to try the programs all of them were installed to the other profile See the link above.im on windows 7No difference. The process is the same. |
