After an Incomplete system restore, I noticed that there was dupicates in my shortcuts...which can easily be deleted, just time comsuming.....but, there was also duplicates in my control panel.....as you know, you cannot make shortcuts or delete them in the control panel.

So...How Do I Get Rid Of These Shortcuts!! :-? HELP!Do you have SP2 loaded? What about goping to safe mode (F8 at startup) and doing another system restore from there? What spyware/adware/virus protection is being used regularly? What was going on that required a system restore (or two)?Well I don't know what "goping" is, but I'm sure as *censored* up for it. Anyone else?
reformat reinstall^ what he said. Ok To Answer Some Of your questions.... -Yes I have SP2 Spyware Protection - Spyware Doctor Adware Protection - Ad-Aware SE Personal Antivirus - Kaspersky Personal - Kaspersky ANTI Hacker - Kaspersky Anti Spam ------------------------------------------------------- Why i needed a system restore - my computer was having slow boot speeds and when starting up (not when windows explorer loads, but right AROUND where it shows the "welcome"screen" it attempts to reformat my hard drive, but it always fails. This all started when i tryed to format my hard drive by right clicking it in my computer and clicking format. a popup came up asking if i wanted to format my drive next system restart, so i said yes.......ever since, it attempts to format at the startup, and it fails......ill try to get some screenshots if my EXPLAINATIONS ARENT good enough. --------------------------------------------------------- Soviet Genius, when you say "reformat reinstall"......i was wondering, how do you do that? (please be very specific and detailed)
THX for the replies so quickly by the way format/reinstall
1. insert Windows CD into CD-ROM drive 2.restart pc 3. while the comp is booting, push whatever button gets u into ur bios setup (mines DEL some other pc's use F8 or ESC. it might even say "push ___ to enter setup") 4. while in ur bios setup, look for something along the lines of "boot priority" or "boot sequence" 5. change it so whereever ur Windows CD is, it boots first. (ex. if its in ur DVD drive, make ur DVD drive boot first) (and dont worry this isnt going to hurt ur computer) 6. save and exit 7. ur comp will now boot off the windows CD. 8. it will ask u along the lines of "do u want to just install windows or format and install windows" 9. u will chose format and install windows 10. let windows do the rest.
i dont know how computer savvy u are, but i hope this is easy to understand.
