Answer» I am running Windows 7 pro and every time I start up my computer It RUNS chkdsk. Why does it do this. And how can I STOP it?.Click Start, then Run ("Start search" in 7), type cmd, and click "Ok". At the prompt in the command window that opens, type: fsutil dirty query C: and press "Enter". Does the result of this indicate the drive is "Dirty"? HEY Broni, the promt tells me this after I typed it in.....The fsutil utility requires you to have administrative privileges. I am new to windows 7 so I do not know how to aquire Adm privileges. But I would love to learn, lol.Open command prompt as administrator. After typing "cmd" in "Start search", hold CTRL and SHIFT, then press Enter.OK, I followed your steps. It BROUGHT up the command promt really fast, I typed in what you told me to do last message but got the same answer? In Programs - Accessories right-click on the Command Prompt icon and choose "run as administrator", then follow the instructions above.
Also, in START - RUN you can type chkdsk /r and press ENTER. It will ask if you want to schedule the checkdisk on the next boot. Say yes and reboot.ok, That worked..... I says its not dirty. What now?Do you only have one drive / partition? If so, do as I said above REGARDING chkdsk /r
