Answer» for the past couple days my computer (Dell Vostro 200, Windows XP Service Pack 2) has been coming up with an error message saying that some system.LOG (maybe not accurate, I have a bad memory) and a ezi_hmn.log error
when i go into the command prompt and run just chkdsk i get the following:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk The type of the file system is NTFS.
WARNING! F parameter not specified. Running CHKDSK in read-only mode.
CHKDSK is VERIFYING files (stage 1 of 3)... Deleted corrupt attribute list entry with type code 128 in file 2650. Deleting corrupt attribute record (128, "") from file record segment 4944. File verification completed. Deleting orphan file record segment 4944.
Errors found. CHKDSK cannot continue in read-only mode.
Also when it asks to run of reboot when i specify f perameter it comes up with:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk /f The type of the file system is NTFS. Cannot lock current drive.
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in USE by another process. Would you LIKE to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N) Y
Chkdsk could not schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts.
I tried to run Microsoft Chkdsk help wizard thing i downloaded off of their SITE but then it comes up with a similar error.
:-\What did i do wrong?/ and is there any "quick fixes"?
run chkdsk off of a boot disk and you'll be in good shape.
