Answer» Hi There,
I could not find an answer to this in FAQ.
There some "FREE standing" applications files in my Documents window. Such as DivXInstaller, spyblastersetup and Firefox Setup. I want to organize my window some. What do I do with these files? Create a new folder entitled Applications? Or can I send them to the trash bin? Rookie question, I know. They are all several MB in size so I'm thinking that they should not be deleted.
Thanks, Mark These are all installer files. I believe they are also all freely available, so they can be downloaded again if needed. Double check that none of them cost money to replace if you need them, and then throw them away.Good solid advice...i agree with hmar...
BTW Welcome both of you to CH !i personally put all of my install files on a usb thumb drive and am glad i have. it was handy when i had a virus tear through my LAPTOP, and had to do a forat and a clean installOkey doke then! I am trying to learn how to keep my e-machine as uncluttered as possible. I will d/l the files to a CD for backup and put these in the trash. I will READ up on the start up files next because I know that there may be several applications that automatically open and run upon start up that you don't need to be open and that this slows your computer speed down. So thanks for the answers on my INITIAL post. If I run into anything on the start up issue I'll check back in. Thanks for your help.
