Solve : Clipboard Error?

Answer»

Hello!

My new computer is only five weeks old.
Windows XP Home Edition
340 Intel Celeron Processor
80gb Hard Drive
512mb SDRam

I've been using Paint Shop Pro Trial program for couple of weeks now, so I download and use a lot of graphics. However, just yesterday, the copy/paste stopped working. I can't copy, then paste any image into another. So I tried to see if I could copy/paste in an EMail, but that didn't work either.

Rebooting worked, but only for a while. When I opened the Clipboard program, this is the message that is there and that window is flipping at the same time.

"Clipbook Viewer cannot display the information in it's current format. To view the information, try pasting it into a document."

I hit the delete "x" several times, but this window wouldn't close.

What can I do now? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

if you rebooted your pc and it worked for a while may indicate...worms /trojans/ etc...have a scan and see what happens...if its clean...reboot pc and hit the F8 key on boot and chose the last good config...or go into the control PANEL add/remove programs scroll down the list and click your internet explore program now click this and then add/revmove tab...splash screen ...now click the repair option...Thanks, MERLIN, for taking the time to reply.

In going into Add/Remove programs, I don't see my IE listed. Would it be under Microsoft Works or Microsoft Data Access Components? Don't laugh now, I really don't see it listed under Internet or Microsoft Internet Explorer. =(

I ran Norton last night and it came up with nothing. But every day, it notifies me that I've received at least one EM containing the Netsky virus. I always quarantine it because it says the repair failed.

Spybot always finds the same things, one always being Exploit and I always click Fix All Problems.

Now Adaware has found, again this time, 11 entries called Alexa. The description says that it's installed with IE and some Microsoft updates. It says it's the "What's Related LINKS" feature on the IE Toolbar, but the only toolbar that I'm using, other than what came with IE, is Yahoo's, and I haven't had any problems like this until now.

Three other entries in Adaware just say Tracking Cookie. I've deleted them before, but they are back again. I'm going to delete those again now.

Is it okay to delete the Alexus files that were found? I wasn't sure because it says they were installed with IE.

Thank you again, for taking the time to help me. I really appreciate it.

Install a firewall.

Use Norton Anti-Virus in safemode.if you are going to scan disable system restore..the alexa resides in h_keys local_machine_local / software/microsoft/intenet explorer/ explorer bars....delete it it a pain... when you have clean it out ...you could re-boot athe f8 key on boot<,,,,,,,safe mode> and chose the last good config........(^santas^ beard)
