Answer» I have a relatively new PC (bought in Oct., 2010) with lots of CAPABILITY, running Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit.
Virtually every time I shut down for the evening I get the message (DO NOT UNPLUG OR SWITCH OFF COMPUTER. INSTALLING WINDOWS UPDATES. INSTALLING UPDATE 1 OF 1) or words to that effect. The the update is installed and the PC SHUTS off.
Do you other Windows 7 Pro users also see updates this often? Just wondering.
ArtFunny, the guy sitting next to me has the EXACT same problem on the Pro version. I have Home Premium and have not seen this issue (just SAYING, but not saying it's limited to Pro). Said he's been having it for a few weeks now.

This is true but what u can also do is, just change your windows updates settings in control panel and set them however u want them. Or you shut down by choosing a normal shut down: ctrl+alt+del and choose (shut down) from the drop down list when u shut down.

Ignore this advice. It solves nothing. Thanks for the replies. I don't think of it so MUCH as a "problem", but being a retired engineer I was just curious as to the fact that Microsoft found something to correct almost every day. Initially I came across several program messages in other things I would run, to the effect that the program was not compattible with "64-bit", but now these seem to have ceased.
