Answer» My wife and I were having issues with our desktop and were getting a tray.exe error. We found the offending program and deleted it.
Then we started getting an error that our ATI graphics SOFTWARE was having problems with the 'mom.implementation' only on my wife's SIGN in (we both have admin rights). My sign in was unaffected.
ATI suggested that we uninstall their software suite and the NET Framework 3.5, 3, and 2, which we did. We then ran a NET Framework CLeanup Tool and then reinstalled NET Framework 3 and its update and then the newest ATI software suite.
Now my wife is getting the message 'mom.exe - fatal error, clr error: 80004005, the program will now terminate.' I am not getting this message on my sign in. ATI suggested following Microsoft's directions to work AROUND the error code, but we do not have the XP cd as it was preinstalled on our computer. We do have the system recovery DISK, but are scared to use it as we do not wish to lose our data.
We have also tried to set up a new account for my wife with admin rights, but receive the same error message. We have also run Trend Micro virus scan, RegCure, MalwareBytes and PCFixer to see if any would HELP. All to no avail.
Please advise.....or would a hammer to the desktop be in order
