Answer» when booting up i get cmos gpnv checksum error and can not continue to load windows. i have the intel d845pt board and p4 2.0 cpu 1 256MB ram
everything was running fine. until i went the the intel website downloads http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=786&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Professional⟨=eng&strOSs=44&submit=Go!
i download all of them first i insatlled the sound driver worked fine then i proboly tryied doing bios update and i just clicked next next next and it RESTARTED the pc.. then i get the error... cmos/gpnv checksum error?!?
i tryed a new battery no luck took battery out unpluged pc for 10 min. it reset everything the time date.. i still get that error i went into the bios switched a few thigs around tryed to save it look slike it does.. restart the pc and i get the error i go into the bios and the stuff i changed are chagged back into what they where changed to before. the defult settings i guess. i tryed all the system defult settings then save exit nothing.. i tryied taking the jumper out it doesnt show anything on the screen.
so i put it in config and did all those changes it seems like its not saving them. i tryed PUTTING a passowrd on it saves it.. weird
can someone please HELP me? did i break the chip? buying trying to install that update??
is there a way to by pass the error codes?

If you flashed the BIOS and nothing was wrong with the machine all bets are off... What exactly did you DLoad and run from that page ? ? And why ? ? A little more history on what got you to this point will be very helpful...i downloaded the bios update. the exe one installed it and it restart my computer really fast. i9 did it so i can enable usb 2.0 or high speed. Did you Click Here and read all the Warnings first ? ?
According to that info the BIOS flash is not that quick for that machine...they state 2 minutes or so and if you have turned the machine off prematurely it's not a good thing.
They also post instructions on recording the old BIOS...did you FOLLOW this step ? ? If not this board may be headed to the shop....i did it buy it self turn of quickly
