Any errors in device manager?yes, other devices work in the usb ports. i have 3 ports. i have not seen a error message in device manager.Well, then I suggest you post on the Apple support forum and see if they can help. I've gotten pretty good responses there. Sorry.Actually stating that iTunes or anything Apple are compatible with Windows is a bit of a reach....Yeah, well - it should work nonethelessi plugged my ipod in again and looked under device manager and there is a error message stating that i am missing a driver. attempted reinstall driver by searching my computer and internet but could not find driver. The latest version of iTunes is Vista compatible.

1) The first solution is that Vista sometimes does not look for drivers in the correct place. When the wizard asks you to provide a location for the drivers type in C:\WINDOWS\System32 and see if it properly locates and detects the iPod and loads the drivers.

2) Have a look in the hardware device list inside Control Pane. You may see you iPod listed (it should appear under the other devices heading) with a yellow triangle next to it. If it APPEARS here then right click it select properties. Next click update device driver. Do not do the automatic find, rather click "I will choose the device from a list." Click on "STORAGE device." With any luck VISTA now FINDS a USB mass storage device and INSTALL it properly.
Wish I could give you the iTunes crap off of my Vista Pc, It came preloaded on my Dell and I thought I would never KEEP the crap from popping up for update every time I rebooted. Thank god for Vista's StartUp Manager.Which device is missing the driver? Try reinstalling your chipset driver.
