Solve : computer can't access secure websites?

Answer»

Please help...

My laptop has been unable to access any SECURE websites(bank, credit cards, shopping online) since last week.

The subscription of my antivirus software expired also last week. I am not sure whether it's related.

Can someone help me

Thank you.

Make of laptop?
Operating system?
What anti virus did/do you have?

If it's still on there but expired - remove it. It could be the security aspect of the anti virus that is preventing the secure sites to display.

It could also be a virus or spyware as you seem to be using the system un-protected...very BRAVE!!Make is DELL, Microsoft XP is the operating system & the expired antivirus software is Norton.

How am I going to uninstall the antivirus program?

Thanks for the reply.GO to start, control panel, add or remove programs and select your antivirus and you will have a button that says change/remove then the process will go through removing all the antivirus files on your computer. not a good idea to surf the net unprotected though.I just did that, but unfortunately, when I click my antivirus program, there was no option for change/remove program? Any idea what that means?

Thanks. What option does it give you???The ONLY info it DISPLAYED was, "it is used rarely". But for other programs, I can see the change/remove button.ok, on your start menu there should be a shortcut FOLDER for your antivirus, in that shortcut there should be an option to uninstall norton. otherwise if you go through my computer and to the DRIVE the anitvirus is installed, then to program files and open the anitvirus folder there should be an uninstall icon there.tried it, this was the message "Cannot delete, make sure disc is not full or write protected".

Thanks.

you need to make sure your antivirus is not running in the sys tray on the right hand side of your taskbar. right click on the norton icon and click close or exit. then try running the uninstall again.
