My PC constantly restarts whenever I turn it on. It runs it's BIOS thingy and proceeds to a windows screen that asks me if i want to run windows in safe mode, last giid config., etc. As soon as I pick an option it STARTS loading windows. after about 6 seconds it restarts and continues to do so for as long as i leave the computer on. I decided to pop in the xp cd and do the recovery console. when it starts it asks what partition i want to fix but it doesn't list my HARDDRIVE. I went to the part of BIOS that tells you what harddrives are detected and my harddrive was listed.

Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.

NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, unfortunately, you're out of luck, because Toshiba doesn't provide any diagnostic tool.Do i need to run that from the desktop because unfrotunately my computer WONT load tht farNo.
Follow the instructions for creating a bootable CD which is the way they should be run...and this can fix my computer or will it just tell me whats wrong with the harddrive?It will let you know if the HDD is the issue...and if it is...does that mean i need a new harddrive or is there a possible way to fix it?OMG, just run it....i ran and its displayed " A:\>" and so i typed the harddrive path thing (C:\) and it sed it was an invalid drive. wat does tht mean?What program did you download?maxtor powermaxDid you download Maxtor PowerMax 4.23 Bootable CD .ISO image file
