hey im posting this for a friend cause his computer..well killed itself , anyways heres what hapened. when he first tryed shutting it down his computer FROZE and wouldnt let him shutdown, after which he gave up and turned the power off by the tower (holding off/on button for 6-7 seconds) and the next time he turned the computer on it came up with all his icons as DAT. files,as if they were corrupt and he dosnt know what to do some things still work like word and internet but the important things dont work eg fire wall and anti virus so plz help and any advice is good advice

Need more information about the computer and OS and was anything added or deleted to/from the computer before the trouble BEGAN. ok..all i know is the os which is windows XP and its a pretty old computer but could you be more specific on what you need sorry not very good with computers lolawww soz and no nothing was added/decected/downloaded or anything like that befor hand it just happened.Has your friend tried to boot up in safe mode ?


dl65 yer hes tryed all of those options like safe mode with network safemode and so on.dose anyone else have anymore advice \?? lol anything at all would be good Not until more info on the MACHINE is posted i'm afraid...
