Solve : Computer does not boot up to windows XP.?

Answer»

When starting up the computer, I get the following message:

‘We apologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change MIGHT have caused this.’ Etc.

When I select the option: ‘Start Windows Normally’, the computer runs fine until when it reaches the window’s loading screen (When you see the window’s logo and the blue loading bar). Then there is a quick sudden flash of my ‘Avast!’ antivirus software doing a ‘Boot-time Scan’ and my computer RESTARTS automatically. The following happens when I select the option: ‘Last Known Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)’ as well.

Even when I select the option: ‘Safe Mode’ or any other options that include safe mode, it does not start up in safe mode. When I do select the safe mode option a bunch of lines of .sys files appear however it stops and says: ‘Press Esc. to cancel  loading SPTD.sys’. That line stays for awhile and then disappears. The screen flickers to a black screen and restarts going back to the ‘We apologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.’ Screen.

Any suggestions in what to do?

Thank you for your time.
