Solve : Computer drops into back up?

Answer»

I joined the Forum today because I have a problem I cannot find an answer to,
Gosh that sounds very grabby.
I have looked through the last 25 pages hoping the problem had already been answered.
I have a 5 year old + Packard Bell PC, the only non standard piece of hardware is a hardwired PCLINE LASER Mouse.
The machine is running Widows 7 home premium.
If I do not keep the mouse moving the computer drops out and reverts to the pretty picture I get to see on start up,
I have a fibre connection with "TALK TALK
I should love to be able to watch a film or a sports programme without having to constantly "STIR" my mouse.
I have tried every which way to resolve the issue with no success.
I fully expect that SOMEONE with rather more than my handful of brain cells has the "OBVIOUS" answer. Check mouse settings in Control Panel...Also power options in Control Panel.

Not exactly rave reviews for that mouse...just sayin...This is such a issue that some sell the -
Mouse Jiggler
Which can be either software or hardware.

The Mouse Jiggler, friend or foe?

When I opened a 10x6-inch box today to find a three-inch USB flash drive labeled "Mouse Jiggler" packed alongside a can of Sobe soda and sweet-tarts, I just scratched my head -- figuratively speaking.

Here is the inevitable Your Tube video:

(I don't get it!)
There are some low tech alternatives. But I will let somebody else say that.

Thank you for your various answers,
I looked in the bottom drawer of the desk and right at the back and still wrapped up and never used was the original "MOUSE"
I unplugged the LAZER mouse and fitted the brand NEW, albeit many years old, original mouse,
I shut down and restarted and guess what?
No fanfare of trumpets and it still reverts to back up, and now it doesn't even show up as a hardware devise on the control panel. Unaccustomed as I am to bad language I may have to look in the thesaurus for a few ripe terms in Anglo Saxon,
Also when I tried to load the mouse into the relevant part of the control panel, nader, nix, nothing. You have a flakey USB slot then...Patio, Hi, I don't think there is anything wrong with the USB slot because whilst the PCLINE Mouse WAS plugged into a USB slot the Original Equipment Mouse has its OWN dedicated Multi-pin socket, Which of course is what I am now using.
I think the problem is with the software not the fixtures and fittings. Caution: The DIN connector is not a hot-swap device. It can kill a mouse

Windows 7 will allow either mouse to function. Provided that a mouse button is not stuck. The problem, IMO, not really the mouse.
Have you been able to boot into safe mode?
Have you already made a full BACKUP?
You can use the Windows 7 Install dis to do a repair job.

To use the system repair disc
Insert the system repair disc into your CD or DVD drive.
Restart your computer using the computer's power button.
If PROMPTED, press any KEY to start the computer from the system repair disc. ...
Choose your language settings, and then click Next.
Select a recovery option, and then click Next.

You also can make a repair disc.

Does that help any?
Uninstall the hardware mouse software using http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html then use the other working mouse and check the difference.
