Solve : Computer freezes, before POST?

Answer»

I just replaced a motherboard in a home built computer. It is an Intel D865PESO socket 478 Motherboard with a 2.4Ghz CPU, AGP interface. The only other piece of hardware installed is a GeForce Ti4200 video card. My power supply is 650 Watts.

This must have been a Gateway replacement board because on startup I get a default Gateway splash screen with the press F2 for BIOS or F12 for MENU, and that is all I get...everything stops there. It will not POST and it will not allow me to go to BIOS. It almost acts like my keyboard doesn't work when I press F2 or F12 or delete or anything else, but I have power to it.

I have tried reconnecting everything and also RAM swaps and removals, IDE ribbon removals and absence of Floppy Drive.
My keyboard has a PC connector and I have not tried a USB keyboard, yet.

Anyone seen this before?Someone just suggested that I pull the battery and RESET my CMOS to default settings. What do you guys think? Can't hurt! You might also want to try it with a PS2 Keyboard and mouse...Quote from: patio on July 10, 2008, 10:29:22 AM

@Leizu: Have you tried the keyboard with another computer? How is the mouse connected - PS2 or USB?Clearing the CMOS worked...all working fine...thanks to allQuote from: Leizu on July 10, 2008, 11:15:11 AM
