Solve : computer keeps rebooting on it's own?

Answer»

I have a H.P and windows xp. I don't know much about computers. One person I asked about this issue said maybe it's the motherboard. I don't know.I've done a restore system, but it still reboots whenever it wants. My antivirus program is fine and . I just want an answer. Disable "Restart on error" feature...

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the ADVANCED tab (Vista: click Advanced system settings).
3. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.
4. Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.
5. Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

You may see some error message. If so, post back what it says.

Download, and install SpeedFan: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
Post your computer temperatures:

Provide processor info (hold Windows logo key, and hit Pause/Break key to find out).OK. I did the instructions you gave me, which seemed simply enough, BUT. after restarting my computer>I got a blue screen . it said windows was shutdown to prevent damage. Also, it informed to make sure and hardware or software was installed properly. well I haven't installed anything, so that shouldn't matter. also, BAD_POOL_VCALLER, was there in big letters.
further down was: if problem continues, disable Bio Memory options, such as cachingor shadowing (don't know what that means).
at the very bottom it said. beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump COMPLETED. Now I couldn't figure how to get that screen off my computer. so I hard booted it and restarted computer. it came back on like usual, but then went back to that blue screen dialog. so I hard booted it again, and quickly undid your instructions so I could get back my ability to reply back, I know it's not wize to hard boot, but I couldn't do anything else. So I guess I'm back where I started. thanks for the help.Download, and install BlueScreenView

....and I still need that SpeedFan data.I had a pc doctor come check out my problem. Found out in "my music" files there was one that had 146gb, of music, wpw. something I didn't even know that it was using major space on my c drive, He looked how much space I had free'd up, and man, it was on;ly ^% free space. So I told him to get rid of it. and boy do I have space now. He took my tower and cleaned it up. blew the dust out. when he hooked it back up. it rebooted again and he said the problem had to be here. well it was the mouse. logitech mouse and it was old. So I got a new one, and my computer hasn't rebooted. He also said, anything less than 10% free space would make computer run WIERD. So, so far my computer is working great. and I'm not GOING to throw it out the window. than you for tring to help me.Nice. Thanks for posting back
