Solve : Computer Problem, Please HELP!?

Answer»

When I turn my computer a black screen comes up which says,

Loading PBR for descriptor 2...done.

A disk read error occurred
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

After I press Ctrl+Alt+Del is looks as if it's going to load back up but then this screen just comes right back up. I'd really appreciate some help as I have no idea what is going on. Thanks. It may not be proprerly reading your harddrive.http://discussions.virtualdr.com/archive/index.php/t-195674.html

<<<"First, make sure that all connections are secure, and reseat the RAM.

If no LUCK and it USES Windows XP, then press the F8 KEY during startup, select Safe mode from the menu using the arrow keys, and press Enter.
If it starts in Safe mode, then do a clean boot to find the cause:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310353

If it does not start in Safe mode, then restart, press the F8 key during startup, and select 'Last Known Good Configuration'.

If still no luck, then press the F2 key during startup to get into Setup(try the Del key if F2 does not work), and make sure the CD drive is configured to boot ahead of the HD.
Then, insert the Windows(or Recovery) CD, restart, and follow the steps shown here to access the Recovery Console, and do a FIXBOOT(writes a new partition table to the HD)-> http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/

If that does not fix things, then do a FIXMBR(repairs the HD's Master Boot Record) using the same above procedure for a FIXBOOT, except substitute FIXMBR.

If still no luck, then you may have to do a repair install as described in the above link(Follow the steps for having an OEM version of XP).

If no good, then do a FRESH install of XP(You will lose all data, restore points, and updates).

If there are problems doing that, then either the HD or RAM may be bad.">>>
Might try clearing the cmos,im not saying this will cure thrPBLM: but will not hurt in doing so. If you dont have your board booklet on how to then you can do so by removing the battery on the board for appx. 20 minutes.I don't have the original install CD, and it seems to only be allowing me to get into the F2 setup and F12 boot menu... hopefully i can something in these menus to resolve this issue. Thanks for the help.see if you can borrow a xp cd ....and if that's not an option?Did you try clearing the CMOS?I'm not sure what you mean by "removing the battery on the board" I don't assume you mean the charging battery, can you dumb it down for me lol, thanksOn the board there is a battery the size of a dime,With the power off remove the battery for appx 20 min & re install.Re boot the computer. You can google [clear cmos] or replace cmos battery]this might solve your PBLM So I removed the battery and left it over night, plugged it all back in and it GOES back to the same screen as stated before. Any other advise?Reseat all cables to the hard drive/drives and re-boot...
Enter the BIOS and see if the hard drive is being recognised.
