Solve : Computer Reboots on Start-Up?

Answer»

Ok I BUILT a new machine and get reboots on start-up. I checked the event viewer and have a yellow triangle warning for each time the reboot has occurred.

The details are Source:ati2mtag
SRB Command Failed - SRB_GET_DEVICE_PROPERTY

Machine
MOBO - Ausu A8N-E
Processor - AMD Athalon 64 X2
Video - ATI Radeon All in Wonder X600

I have reflashed the BIOS to latest and installed the latest cataylst 5.13 for the video.

Any Suggestions appreciatedMario:

Hmmm.  A google of Microsoft produced just 10 hits, all dealing with web servers.  Is this system using one of the Windows server operating systems?

Event ID 1049

Source: ClusSvc
Description:
Cluster IP address "IP address" cannot be brought online because the address IP address is already present on the network. Please check your network configuration.

Problem:
The cluster service tried to bring an IP address online. The address is already in use on the network and cannot be registered. Therefore, the resource cannot be brought online.

Solution:
Resolve the IP address conflict, or choose another address for the resource.

No XP Professional

Sorry, i posted the above before i read your last reply.

Most events in Event Viewer have a link that you may select to access the knowledge base article at Microsoft's website.  Have you tried clicking on the link?

No there is no link and when I send the event to MS there is usually a page that pops up that says they are looking at it.
Appears to be a device driver but I have not been able to determine which one.
Updated the ATI drivers yesterday
Update Bios
Having troubles with chipset drivers so far, no being able to extract, another funky issue.

Got blue screen 2x today earlier

Good observation.  WDM = Windows Driver Model.

My best guess is ati2mtag.dll is the driver that is missing or corrupted or not compatible with Windows XP.

I'll look up the 0x000000D1 stop error and get back to you.

One of these three might do the trick:

It was the only Windows XP related knowledge base article for the 0x000000D1 stop error in the three links of my previous reply.

If you are able to boot to the desktop in Safe MODE With Networking, try downloading and installing Service Pack 2 for Windows XP using Windows Update.
I really appreciate all your help and suggestions.
I just built this machine and I did purchase Windows XP from New Egg with SP2 onboard.
Since the driver issue seems to be ATI related I uninstalled all ATI from the machine.
On the reboots between the removals the machine booted the first time and faster...if this machine could get faster...lol
I then reinstalled the Catalyst 5.13 and did a reboot...so far all seems good.
Did not get a reboot after all was loaded as I was getting previously.

Next task is to update the chipset drivers, but I may wait a bit for that, this current issue has taken all day.

I appreciate all the help and trouble you have gone through.
Thanks for your time and I hope this is the last of this issueNo problem!  Knowledge is worthless if i can't give it away.

Take it easy, and God bless,
Doc
