Solve : computer resolution trouble...help!!?

Answer»

Hey, im new to the forum and i am having some computer trouble.

i was at my friends house and i was on her computer. I accidently changed her screen resolution from 1024x768 to 1280x768. After doin this the monitor went blank and started said "input not supported". It never switched back to the 1024x768 setting and it seems to be stuck at 1280x768. I have TRIED to START the computer in safe mode, but the computer still seems to be stuck at 1280x768. I have also tried to switch the monitor with another one, and the same problem still occurs.

at this point I'm stumped...if anyone has any advice let me know. thanks. In Safe Mode, did you see "Safe Mode" displayed in all four corners?Jon, you COULD TRY this little program. It says it WORKS from a command line.

I have not tested this program, you download and use it at your own risk.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Resolution-Changer.shtmlYou've reset the display resolution in the Windows "registry" to a value the monitor cannot support. Basically you need to boot to "Safe Mode" which uses a lower resolution, reset the desired resolution within Display properties, and reboot.

Hewlett-Packard provides excellent troubleshooting procedures. Follow "step 6.a thru 6.e" of the following link: Monitor Displays Message about Signal out of Range
