Solve : Computer running but will not boot?

Answer»

I recently attempted to start my computer after a power loss occured while I was at work. The computer was off. When I started the computer all lights CAME on and fans turned on, but only a black screen saying no signal.

I checked the screen on another computer WORKED fine.
I checked on-board video to no avail.

Changed mobo, processor, and RAM (all brand new)

Computer still will not boot, no video from onboard video as well.

Hard drive does spin, all power available to DVD ROMs and spinning disk.

Any suggestions as to wat may be a cause
ie...power supply?First, is it POSSIBLE you can try another monitor?tried another monitor, same problem..... any thoughts on if power supply could have something wrongIf the fans start up and everything, I don't think it would be the PSU.

When you start the computer, are there any Beeps at all?No.. no beeps, i'll need to check to make sure onboard speakers are plugged correctly but i believe they areAre you sure there is no actual video card?

Can you tell us exactly what happens when you turn press the power button? When turning on... all fans, lights and mobo light is turning on..
Hard drives are spinnning and SOUNDS as if the HDD is trying to read.
There is no sound for post.
The monitor stays balck the entire time.
Before screen went and stayed black orriginally BIOSTAR showed up onscreen and froze..tried to hard boot but thats when screen went and stayed black

This is the second mobo, RAM, and CPU that this has occured with in the last 3 days...just rebuilt tonite.

I have a 500 MB SATA HDD.. 2- DVD burners, and FLOPPY

Problem ocuured originally on a BIOSTAR mobo, Intel Presario 3.2 GB prossesor, 2 GB RAM

Currently upgraded to ASUS M3A78 mobo, AMD 2.1 Triple Core, and Kingston 1 GB DDR2 1066 x2

Oh... originally start with Raideon X1650 card on original mobo, then tried onbord video on BIOSTAR mobo, then onboard video on ASUSDoes it not show the BIOS anymore?

I'm not entirely sure, but I would try a new CMOS battery.Nope.. no BIOS, I will try one tomorrow....have someone in town with some spare parts that we will try more trouble shooting as well..... I will update with any findings

Thanks for the suggestions

PS... please let me know if you may think of anything else..thanks againYou could try removing the battery for about 20 minutes and see what happens.
Recently, someone came here with a similar problem and a new battery got it working again so I suggested it. Will do .... hopefully ASUS wouldnt send a crap battery but it is electronics...
