Answer» How can i fix an E-machine when it says no modem ? It crashed and we reinstalled the windows xp and now it says no modem . And also says F file missing what is that ?jennifer82777,When you say "it crashed"--what were you doing immediately prior to this "crash"? What were the symptoms generated by the computer as it "crashed"? When you say "reinstalled windows"--how did you reinstall windows xp? No idea what this F file may be--but others may have some knowledge about that. It may be possible that since you "reinstalled" windows XP that your modem may need drivers reinstalled for it to work. Tell us the process you used to "reinstall windows Xp. What type of modem are you referring to? What can you not do since the reinstall that you could do before the "crash"? In your HARDWARE configuration "device manager" what if any do you have YELLOW asterisks or question marks beside? truenorth
I was online and it shut done completely then when i restarted it went straight to system recovery but the system recovery wouldnt complete . We put in the system recovery disc thats how we reinstalled that . i have no CLUE what type of modem it is . There is yellow question marks beside other devices , multimedia audio controller, other pci bridge device, pci simple communication controller , sm bus controller There should have also been an eMachimes Driver CD...you need to re-install all the drivers from it.thats the only disc that came with it was the reinstall for windows xp contact eMachines for a replacement Driver CD....or they may have a site with drivers.they WONT send anything or help because the warranty is expired and cant get online to get it downloaded They should still be able to provide a CD warranty or not... Or you could try DLoading from a machine that has web access...jennifer82777,You obviously are able to get online with "some" computer. It is not necessary to actually use the computer that REQUIRES the drivers to obtain and download them. They can be accessed by any computer stored on a removeable media IE; a floppy (if size permitts),a cd-r, a flash drive ,a zip drive. Then transport them to the affected computer. If you are having difficulties via a telephone call to E-machines send them an email to their tech support asking for the link to the web site that has the drivers. I normally recommend telephone support however after warranty expiry email will often achieve results that phone contact won't.goodluck, truenorth
