Solve : Computer stops working during gameplay?

Answer»

I have Windows 7..
I'm not good with computers, so that's why I'm here. Whenever I try to play a game (EXAMPLE: Sims 3) my computer works, but then suddenly it's like the screen shuts off. A variety of things have happened like the screen would go black, then it would come back on, or sometimes go black like three times in a row until it eventually shows the 'No Signal' block or sometimes 'Input not supported'. Or what has also happened is the screen went white and made a terrible sound, sometimes it's a bunch of colorful block stuff while it makes the noise. I've had the computer for about 6 years now and I've never 'upgraded' anything on it. Can someone help me out because it's driving me insane.

Computer system INFORMATION:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz 2.33GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 2.00GB
System type: 32-bit Operating SystemThis COULD be an indication of a failing graphics card (assuming that you have been able to play this game in the past with the same computer). Failing or diminished RAM AVAILABILITY could also CAUSE this. You could run a scan with either Everest (free) or Crucial (free) to verify that they are detecting the full amount of RAM that the computer is supposed to have. You need to know what the total memory of the installed modules is in order to ascertain if they match.truenorth
