Answer» HELP!!!! My computer wont start up. It just goes to the screen where it gives you the choice to start up in safe mode or last good configuration or start up normally. So I have clicked all of them and nothing happens it just ends up back at that screen and says WINDOWS will start up normally in........and starts counting down to starting up and then continues the vicious circle of attempting to startup. Can someone please tell me whats going on?
Running windows xp.
Thanks, Amy1. Disable Auto Restart. From the Windows Advanced Options menu, use the up/down arrow keys to select the "Disable automatic restart on system failure" and hit Enter.
HOPEFULLY the machine will stop on a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). RECORD and post back with the "EXACT" error message text and/or numbers plus any OFFENDING software module it might name.
2. Windows Advanced Options Menu. Use the F8 function key during system startup to access the Windows Advanced Options menu. Tap the F8 key once or twice per second as you startup the computer (or immediately after POST completes and screen flashes black prior to displaying Windows XP logo with its processing bar display). What led up to this? What is different between the last time the system started normally and the first time it did not (new hw, sw, virus, error, etc)?
