Using my SIS's computer, she is on cable.  Have used this computer before, but now when we try to shut it down the NORMAL way (Start...shut down..etc), it will not shut down.  The only way it will actually shut down is to go to the power button and hit it.  It runs very slowly, and are wondering if "someone/something" is helping us control this PC?  It is an HP, Intel Celeron CPU 2.80 GHz, running XP V2002, SPz.  Do I need more info?  Hope this has been repeated, and we need lots of help, not computer guru's at all.

When's the last time you performed routine maitenance on your computer...Disk Cleanup...Defrag...etc., etc?

What are you using for virus and spyware protection?

Have you visited Windows Update for the latest "high-priority" updates for your computer?
