Solve : Computer won't start, need data fron hard disk.? |

Answer» computer does not start. when i turn on the computer the windows screens appears with the increasing bar on the screen, then it goes to a safe mode screen but no action can be taken as the keys don't work then a blue screen (can't see what it says too fast) then it loops back the the beginning with the windows screen again. What can i do to bet data from that is on hard disk?Reboot. As soon as you see the POST screen start tapping the F8 key. This will take you to a screen that offers you a number of boot options. Select "Disable Reboot on Error" (I believe that's the correct wording - if not, it's close) and reboot. You should now see the contents of that blue screen error. Post it here.Laptop or desktop ? ? i tried f8 on the post but as i said before none of the keys work.Are you using a USB keyboard? That's what the Blue link in reply #2 is for.one last thing please, a technician that diagnosed my computer told me that the hard disk was no good, i believe with the boot SECTOR, and if i got a windows installed on a CD and get the computer to boot from the CD drive i can then back up from that same computer. do you know what windows is he talking about. please foregive me for the grammar I'm using a brand new lap top that the shift key does not work and can't use the upper case symbols. will be taking to the warranty soon.Use the method shown above...the drive does NOT have to be running Windows properly to retrieve your data... After that you can run the Free diagnostics from the drive manuf. site to see if the TECH was correct... But retrieving the data should be the priority.The reason for the CD in the last post was so I can use the same computer. Either way than you for the HELP and will be doing what you said soon. Will let you know what the outcome was.do a thing! connect another bootable device and use it to get the data and later format the disc or insert the OS INSTALLATION DISC to the drive and select the repair option[THIS IS PRESENT IN XP INSTALLATION DISC]you gave me an idea. can i install windows on a 500GB external hard disk that i have and boot from it on the computer that doesn't boot up/ then back up on that same disk. |
