Solve : Computer won't wake up?

Answer»

I set my computer to go to sleep after 4 hrs about 4 months ago and it would wake up when I would click the mouse but for the past 2 weeks it wont wake up and I have to cut the power to turn it off and restart it and it brings up the starting options window and I restart it. I dont know if this is an OS problem or what. All help is appreciatedFirst of all, you should tell the forum what sort of compute it is.
If it is only four months old, you should have sent it back to the vendor.Quote from: Geek-9pm on February 03, 2012, 09:31:33 PM

oops sorry my bad
Custom computer I built 3 years ago
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.91 GHz
RAM 4 GB
Windows 7 64 bit OS
Asus M2N-E
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 512 mb
WD 250 GB HARD drive 87.5 GB freeOthers have had trouble also using the sleep mode. You may have to just forget about using nit.
There are a some reports like this ONE:
Windows 7 64 keeps going into sleep mode during movies (sleep/displayoff set to never)

Of course, the is not the same as your problem. Bu this might be a hint that it or is OS issue.
It is not if eh AMD CPU has anything to do with it. It happens even with Intel CPUs.

EDIT: And yes, if it was a store BOUGHT machine just a few months old I would take it back. Even if there is nothing they can do about it, consumer pressure is one way to get manufacturers and Microsoft to pay attention to details. If the sleep feature does not work, they ought to document it and warn us. Consumers should not have to do quality control.

Of course yours was home built. Still, there should be a warning somewhere in the Windows OS.Thx, yeah thats exactly what I was going to do (take it off of sleep).Hi!! I realize that this is marked solved. I hope I'm not out of line posting here. I have my Toshiba laptop set to go into sleep mode after 15 minutes. I can move or click my mouse and my PC will resume from sleep. After 360 minutes, it goes in to hibernation and moving the mouse no longer works and I have to push the power button for just a instant. Then my PC comes out of hibernation. If I hold the power button, my PC will shut down. This is the way it has always worked and I believe that it's supposed to work this way.You might give this a shot!!

Thanks friend!! I 'm just glad to get my grove back. Mistaken identity got my privileges taken away. All is cool now and I'm a happy camper. I LOVE this forum and hope I can be an asset to CH. I try not to post unless I'm familiar with the topic. A little windy some times, but love sharing what I know (And don't know )After wrangling with this problem for more than a year, turns out it was just a bad monitor . It finally went POOF! And I was glad to get rid of the problem!
