Solve : computer wont hibernate?

hi i have tried to set up my COMPUTER to go into hibernation after a short period of no activity but although it appears to be set up correctly it wont shut down i have it set to turn off monitor after 10 minutes this works ok then drives after 15 minutes (dont know if this is ok) then hibernate after 30 minutes but it never does. is there any way of seeing what programms may be holding the PC on (if i click on hibernate from the shutdown screen it works fine)
ive got winxp sp2
pentium d cpu 2.8
1 gig ram
norton sys works

daveTo SEE what processes are running HIT Ctrl-Alt-Delete and select Task Manager...under the process tab it will show them all.
Some of these will look very foreign to you if you haven't wandered in there before so don't disable anything you don't recognise.

Chances are it's Norton phoning home to check for updates...that or your e-mail client doing the same.

p.s. Those options can be turned off in the TOOLS section of the respective programs.
