Solve : Constant updates?

Answer»

I'm having problems with my laptop as every single time I switch it off it starts doing UPDATES...and it seems like they are the same ones? Does anyone know why this is happening? I'd appreciate advice or suggestions, thank you! What are the updates? Most updates can be done manually, in other words, you can do them yourself. You have to remember to do this though, but in my book, it's less annoying.Just a heads up...run updates overnite...on A/C power...low battery may be interrupting them and not allowing them to complete.It's not that...I've checked and there are some updates that are failing over and over. It's a NET .4 FRAMEWORK error...It says it's failing to initialize, anyone know what that means? I've had the laptop for some time now, so I don't understand why this is happening now, I haven't done anything to the laptop. I don't think anyway...Quote from: gameperson on November 04, 2013, 05:24:19 PM

Could you tell me how to do that please? Thanks. What updates are you trying to install?

If these updates are windows updates, do them manually. When you start up the windows update page, under settings, choose NEVER. Windows won't like this though.Net .4 Framework updates? I think I'm gonna have to get in touch with the manufacturer because the laptop won't do them and I think somehow something got wiped from the hardware and now the laptop won't work like it should. It sounds like you're doing windows updates. Try this
Do one update at a time on AC power with your battery plugged in. If for some reason, that one update fails then you'll get an error code and you can try to reset the windows update wizard. Microsoft has a tool that you can use to do this.

Every update has a kb number so it would help if you could mention exactly which updates are failing.Quote from: patio on November 04, 2013, 06:04:58 PM

Follow "gameperson's" instructions if you want to disable Windows automatic updates. You can also select it for manual update.

More detail steps (For Win 7, if you are USING other Window then following steps may differ) :
1. Start->Control Panel->System and Security
2. Find Window Update and select "Turn automatic update on or off"
3. And then do what you need.

To disable Right hand side Flag messages
Control Panel->Action Center and do what you need.
