Solve : copy an .avi-file to DVD?

Answer» HI,
I have this problem:
I need space on my HD ( OS: Win XP SP 2)and want to move a film in .avi format from the PC to a DVD but when I put the DVD into the DVD reader I get a message :the space on the disk is not enough, please, put in a NEW disk. The film is 1,9 GB and the disk is 4,7 Gb. What is the problem ?
Thanks if you can help me.
Regards

BenedettoSounds like that's not an empty DVD disk...Yeah, put the disk in the drive and go to My Computer and just open the disk and see if there is anything in there. If not, click Properties on the disk and if the memory shows 0% free or something, that means the disc has been used.
You can try to erase whatever is on the disk. I know Nero BURNING Software can do that. Personally, i wouldn't get rid of a dvd disk unless i knew what was on there.
Too bad you can't format disks, that would be weird, lol  Only if the dvd says RW you can erase what was on there before .Yes, it seems that the dvd is not empty. Moreover it is a dvd-R so I understand that I cannot do much more.
I will try with another DVD .
Thanks for the help and kind regards to all of you.
BenedettoNo problem...stop by anytime.
