Answer» Can I network 2 computers to copy files EVEN if one can only boot up in safe mode? If I have to reformat the hard drive on the one that will only boot up in safe mode, I would like to SAVE some files.
Thanks again in advance.I don't KNOW. So, what I would do is pull the HD out of the BAD machine and temporarily connect it to the other machine as a slave, i.e. second, HD, and then get the files I want from it.
But, you MAY want to wait and see what others have to say here, first.Boot up in safe mode with networking and it should work. And what Windows version do you use? Because in Windows98 for example, my advice it's not good.
There is another option that does not involve just Windows. If you are out of options and you can't move the harddisk from one computer to another (as slave) just let us know.Soybean - this can be done...... it does work, but you may not be able to get all your files. i just tried this and I can not get to my documents or music (anything that was stored under my profile)Quote from: pbennettatwpi on April 04, 2007, 12:05:28 AM Soybean - this can be done...... it does work, but you may not be able to get all your files. i just tried this and I can not get to my documents or music (anything that was stored under my profile)
