I have just upgraded to a new computer that is running Vista.  I was PREVIOUSLY running WindowsME, which believe it or not, gave me no problems.

Once a month, I need to work with a cda file.  The person who works with me records the cda file on a CD using Apple Garage Band.

I can PLAY the file from my CD drive with WINDOWS Media Player and WinAmp.

I want to copy the file to my hard drive and play it from there.  On my old computer, I could do this with no problem.  Now that I have Vista, I can copy the file to my hard drive, but I can't get Windows Media Player or WinAmp to play it from the hard drive file.

I would surely appreciate your advice on how to resolve this problem.ummm.. i dont use vista but, where do you save it? desktop my documents?You will probably have to bypass MS's built in garbage by PLAYING the file from the CD and capturing the audio to the HD. If you look at the file properties of the copied file, it will probably be a 1 or 2K file with a .cda extension. It contains nothing except the files location on the CD. I suggest using something other than MS's crap.Use a media player to rip the CD tracks to your HDD and play them from there.
CDA format is audio CD format, you will need to either play the audio CD itself or use, for example, WMP or Winamp to rip them to, say, WMA or MP3 files to play them.
